About Us

Library life — we get it

Books are our specialty and we know how they make your library the best it can be. We’re more than your average sales representatives; we do more than push books; we recognize that each library is special — a reflection of the patrons and librarians who are the lifeblood of such a place. Like an ecosystem, the quality of a library and those who inhabit it requires care and quality, and let’s just say Brainstorm’s got the nutrients. We hand-pick our team carefully to ensure that they’re up to the task of developing strong libraries and stronger readers.

Meet the Brainstormers

Megan Beyerl

As a child, I remember checking out Charlotte’s Web, A Wrinkle in Time, and every Laura Ingalls Wilder book. It is fulfilling to help librarians select material that will spark an interest in their students. I apprecieate the dedication of the librarians I’ve worked with to make their libraries an exciting place. When I am not reading or talking about books, I like to walk, bike, cook, and hang out with my 2 teenagers, husband, and dog!
“I love being surrounded with books…but I am learning to share!”

Kelly Mullen – Sales Manager

I feel very lucky to be able to sell best-in-class nonfiction books for beginning, struggling, and reluctant readers. It is so rewarding to hear from our customers that they can’t keep our books on the shelves and that even the most reluctant reader gets excited about our titles. When the libraries are closed and I am not driving my kids to hockey, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two boys who are constantly asking me to bring home more of our books!

Welcome! Thank you for visiting our website. I am delighted to be starting my second year as the Brainstorm Library sales representative for Illinois, Massachusetts, and North Carolina. Working with librarians to provide beginning and struggling readers with quality nonfiction is the best part of my job, and it allows me to share my love of books. I have a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Education – both from St. Cloud State University. I am married (to a French teacher) and we have two children. Prior to joining the Brainstorm flock, I spent ten years working for the education wing of a nonprofit theater company. In my free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, painting, cross-country skiing, and double-stranded knitting.

One of my favorite quotes about books comes from Sir Francis Bacon: “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.” I think it’s important that kids have books that they can chew on – that challenge or inspire them and help open their world. With that in mind, I like helping librarians find those books. It’s my goal to ensure my customers find the books they need to get kids excited about reading. When I’m not selling books, I’m busy raising two teenage boys with my husband. We have a beautiful American Eskimo dog named Snoflake that cuddles with us when we read. And when I can, I enjoy birding, gardening, and nature in general.
